Manor Farmhouse

Out & About in Bath

When you stay in our gorgeous country manor – whether it's in the West Wing, Monks Retreat or The Manor Wing – you'll discover the historic and beautiful city of Bath on your doorstep. Established as a Roman settlement, Bath was completely rebuilt during Georgian times when it became Britains most fashionable resort. Today, Bath remains the finest example of a Georgian city in Britain, something that has earned it World Heritage status and attracts large numbers of visitors from around the world.

For those of you with an interest in history, a visit to the Roman Baths is a must, and you may also enjoy the splendours of Royal Crescent. Art lovers can enjoy The Holburne Museum of Art, which offers a fine collection of paintings and decorative objects, as well as free access to the Victoria Art Gallery with its array of paintings dating back to Bath's Georgian heyday.

Bath has an excellent range of shops and restaurants, including both well-known high street names and a fascinating range of boutique and traditional stores. Away from the city, holidaymakers can choose from a range of other activities in the Bath area. As well as interesting town walks, the countryside offers a wide selection of footpaths in the hills, fields and woods around Bath. The canal towpath leads from the centre of Bath through the heart of the countryside, and is popular with both walkers and cyclists. There are also boat trips along the river Avon with commentaries from guides.
